Summary:
Since the end of April 2020, in response to COVID-19, we have been delivering Club Matters workshops virtually. This included the entire suite of workshops. Our focus was to ensure participants were still able to interact as much as they would do on a face-to-face workshop and that we could offer as many clubs as possible to opportunity to engage.
Approach:
We invested a lot of time into sourcing a brilliant system, tailoring the workshops for virtual delivery and upskilling our tutor workforce to make sure we provided a suitable alternative through the crisis. This process also involved amending activities, updating the workshop resources and planning effective engagements throughout all the workshops, with participants at the heart of everything we did. To ensure participants had a positive experience we also chose to provide a technical supporter for all our workshops to support the tutor and those who were having technical issues.
We worked with several Active Partnerships and National Governing Bodies to provide workshop schedules to suit their needs. We also hosted a series of open workshops to cater for the demand and provide groups/organisations multiple opportunities to engage.
Outcome:
This supportive and personalised approach has led to us delivering 124 workshops, to over 700 participants, in just 3 months! This has included club volunteers as well as the professional workforce who have been utilising the sessions for their own professional development. We are really pleased with the uptake and, most importantly, that we have been able to quickly and effectively support clubs, Active Partnerships and National Governing Bodies through this time of need.
