As a commitment to Sport Governance Sport Structures encourage staff to volunteer into sports administration.
Following an interview process Simon was appointed as the chair of Swim England West Midlands region. His background in sport, chairing abilities and also his experience in chairing meetings gave him the expertise to support the region.
He has been chair since 2011 and has led change in board format based on the needs of the region and in particular to improve the quality of coaches, facilities and competition. Simon managed the process of setting up West Midlands own championships, developing a coach mentoring programme and strategically planning new facilities. Simon, in addition committed to a year chairing the regional chairs group and in that time the role of the regions changed as [part of the changes in Swim England nationally.
