Summary
We were contracted by the Castle Pool Community Partnership, who are made up of the users of the pool, to support them through the takeover of the management and operations of the Castle Pool in Birmingham.
Approach
Birmingham City Council were rationalising their swimming pool stock and identified the Castle pool, in Castle Vale east Birmingham as surplus to requirements. The Castle Pool Community Partnership progressed the asset transfer of the pool to make sure the community still had access to the facility.
We worked closely with the partnership, as well as supporting meetings with the Council, to ensure they had the necessary, financial, governance and operational procedures in place to manage the pool.
Outcome
We managed the asset transfer of the pool from City Council ownership and management to a community partnership. This project had many elements, including facility programme support, management of staff recruitment and training as well as governance and structural advice.
