Summary:
The research identified and evaluated the equality issues and barriers within the membership and the workforce of England Netball. The report assisted England Netball in meeting the requirements for the preliminary level of the Equality Standard.
Approach:
The project was divided into three phases; design, interview & analyse and report. The design phase incorporated an initial desk based requirement to identify the information available concerning underrepresented participants within the England Netball membership and key workforce personnel. This data provided the baseline database to filter potential interviewee’s. Phase two was initiated with conducting telephone interviews to extract the appropriate information. The final phase was analysing the information using qualitative and quantitative methods to quantify the issues and barriers to inform the recommendations.
Outcome:
Appropriate and feasible recommendations relating to further development with priority groups, equality training, priority group representation and local level needs were highlighted as key areas of improvement to meet equality standards.
