England Athletics - Run England - Black Country
Summary
Sport Structures were commissioned by the Black Country consortium in partnership with Run England to run a brand new Run England project in the Black Country. The project aims to get more people (500) participating and volunteering (24) in informal jogging in the Black Country.
Approach
We organised and ran a number of Running Fitness (LiRF) courses which had a maximum turnout - a fantastic step towards increasing participation in recreational running across the Black Country. The newly qualified run leaders set up a variety of running groups across the Black Country with sessions ranging from rehabilitating people with mental disabilities through running, to weight-loss and keep fit sessions.
Outcome
We trained 48 new run leaders, doubling the target and registered over 500 new runners on the Run England portal.
