Summary
We delivered our first modified 1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Basketball to Worcester University students.
Approach
We engaged with Worcester University after previously providing Handball courses to students. Learners were in the process of completing their sports degree and had already completed the 1st4Sport Level 2 Award in the Principles of Coaching Sport (QCF). This was used as recognition of prior learning and we were able to map the generic coaching modules already completed to the 1st4Sport Level 2 certificate in Coaching Basketball. This enabled the course delivery to be minimised to three days instead of five with appropriate assessment opportunities.
Outcome
Learners were fully supported throughout the duration of the qualification and the learning programme met qualification requirements. All learners were deemed competent and are now coaching basketball in various coaching environments with both children and adults.
