Summary
Since April 2011 we have been working as the impact study team for the Sportivate programme. We are contracted by Sport England to report to them the key performance statistics and to identify examples of good practice. South Yorkshire Sport realised the importance of Sportivate and the vital role that intelligence led planning can make in making the programme effective.We were commissioned to provide the partnership with three insight reports – Sportivate Year1, Active People data and Market Segmentation.
Approach
We used national data sources to generate Active People and Market Segmentation data for South Yorkshire and provided comparisons with regional and national data. In addition we provided detail reports for each local authority Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. The Sportivate data was compiled through the Sportivate online portal and provided an overview of results for year one with breakdowns of data at a local authority level.
Outcome
South Yorkshire Sport have shared their reports with their network to inform future planning for the Sportivate programme. The report findings highlighted some interesting differences between the local authorities and the approaches that they had taken to targeting the 14-25 population.
