UK Coaching, the lead agency for coaches in the UK, and one of the sectors largest training providers, Sports Structures, are collaborating in partnership to enhance the digital learning and development for coaches and workforce officers in the sport and physical activity sector.

As the sector reels in shock from the biggest upset in recent times due to Covid 19, both organisations feel it is vital to find ways to work together, to ensure better support all the people who play such a vital role in keeping the nation active.  With growing concerns for the long term health of young people in particular, this collaboration will also ensure that coaches are equipped more than ever before with the skills to support individuals to cultivate a lifelong love for physical activity.  To that end, the partnership will work together to provide end to end learning and development support  for aspiring and existing coaches, coach developers and managers to recover and reinvent and provide great coaching support across England.

Emma Atkins, Director of Coaching for the UK Coaching group (incorporating its Awarding body 1st4sport) said “Recognising and building on the strengths of both organisations with UK Coaching’s huge bank of resources and expertise in coaching system design and Sports Structures experience of delivering coach education, apprenticeships and education for tutors and assessors will enable a range of digital and face to face services to be developed, enhanced and delivered.”

Kath Robinson, Managing Director of Sport Structures added We have worked with UK Coaching and 1st4sport for many years and we share values and approaches to develop coaches through high quality delivery. We feel that by working together, coaches, along with the professional workforce who support coaches, can only benefit”.
