Ever wondered what goes into creating our qualifications, online courses and workshops?
We had the chance to sit down with Jobeth Hamilton, our talented Project Manager for People Development, to get the inside scoop. Jobeth shared her love for developing learning content and the impact it has on organisations in the sport and physical activity sector.
In her own words, Jobeth shared, "One of the highlights of my job is developing learning content for various clients. It’s incredibly rewarding to engage with organisations and understand who their learners are, the purpose of the qualifications, and the strategic outcomes they aim to achieve through their learning programmes.
Understanding Your Needs
I enjoy the discussions around formats - whether it is online, practical, or a blend of both - and how learners will be assessed. What outcomes will they achieve from the workshops or qualifications? And which awarding bodies or endorsing organisations will be involved? These conversations set the stage for a meaningful learning experience.
Creating Engaging Content
But my favourite part? It’s definitely the content writing. I love the challenge of crafting engaging material that meets the desired outcomes. My goal is to make the learning as interesting and innovative as possible, ensuring that it’s not just informative but also enjoyable and accessible. I want learners to walk away not just with knowledge and skills, but also with a memorable experience that makes them excited to share their journey.
When I write, I always keep the end user in mind. I imagine what it would be like for someone coming home after a long day at work, ready to dive into a virtual classroom. What would they need to feel energised and engaged? That perspective drives me to create content that resonates and inspires.
Every organisation is unique, and I relish the opportunity to tailor our approach to fit their specific needs. I often learn about sports I haven’t encountered much before, which adds another layer of purpose to the process. Collaborating with organisations brings a wealth of knowledge—from the latest coaching research to innovative video content.
The Positive Impact on the Workforce
It’s a true privilege to be part of this journey. There’s nothing quite like visiting an organisation’s website and seeing a new qualification launched, knowing that I played a role in shaping it. It’s moments like these that remind me of the positive impact we’re making on the coaching and physical activity workforce across the UK."
