Activity Alliance and UK Coaching have launched a new online learning classroom as part of their joint initiative – Inclusive Activity Programme. The new training will support sports coaches, community leaders and healthcare professionals to make physical activity inclusive and accessible to disabled people.

Since June 2018, the Inclusive Activity Programme has provided specialist training to organisations and individuals. The three-hour practical workshop equips people with the confidence and skills to engage disabled people and people with long-term health conditions effectively in physical activity.

Sadly, due to the coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic, all face-to-face workshop delivery has been stopped until further notice. In response, Activity Alliance and UK Coaching have developed a new online classroom so you can continue to learn about inclusive delivery and develop your skills.

The new Inclusive Activity Programme online classrooms offer a live and interactive learning experience. Similar to the face-to-face workshops, each online session will be led by an expert inclusion tutor. You will learn about the key principles of delivering inclusive activities and how to make your sessions fun and enjoyable for everyone!

Sport Structures is a registered partner of the Inclusive Activity Programme. The new online classrooms are a great addition. We look forward to supporting many local organisations and individuals to take up this new training opportunity.

During an Inclusive Activity Programme online classroom, you will:

  • Understand how to make your sessions more inclusive and how to adapt activities using the STEP tool and Activity Inclusion Model.
  • Learn about how you can support disabled people to be more active by embedding Activity Alliance’s Ten Principles in your work.
  • Access additional resources to support your sessions and learn about further training opportunities.

Kat Southwell, Head of Programmes at Activity Alliance said:

“Earlier this year, life and work for all of us changed, as the coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic swept across the world. It required us to rethink and adapt delivery of the Inclusive Activity Programme. With UK Coaching’s support we are now able to continue offering this high quality inclusion training to organisations and individuals in a new way.
