This summer The English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards are delighted to announce they will be kicking off a new summer clubs programme to get more young people involved in snooker. There will be eight venues hosting the programme across the country over the coming months. The sessions itself are aimed at young people between the ages of 10 and 16.
In conjunction with this programme, we have been working with EPSB to develop their young leaders programme. This programme is designed to give 13- 16 year old snooker players the knowledge, ability and confidence to take up leadership roles in their clubs in the future. Each club involved in the summer programme has identified 2-3 young people to be involved in the young leaders programme. They will assist the coaches with the summer programme a well as completing five modules over the next few months across a number of topics including club marketing and snooker pathways.
When asked about the Junior Summer Clubs WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson said “This is a fantastic initiative which I am certain will not only help us to find potential stars of the future, but provide young people who have not yet discovered this great sport with an opportunity to adopt snooker as a hobby.”
