A Distinguished Story of Apprenticeship Success

Level 3 Community Activator Coach, Grace Osman and Swindon Town FC Community Foundation have had a distinguished week. Grace has achieved the rare feat of gaining 4 distinctions across her apprenticeship end-point assessment. An achievement that prompted a personal communication from her EPAO to congratulate her on an outstanding EPA result. Grace’s apprenticeship story is one of growing confidence and a willingness to learn and have an impact on her community and employer. Grace would be the first to admit that occasionally her journey has been impacted by a lack of confidence but with support from her employer and training provider she has grown and delivered outstanding outcomes consistently throughout her apprenticeship.

A key element of Grace’s success has been the need to deliver high standards in the workplace and on her apprenticeship which has been an expectation from her employer, tutor, and herself. Grace's success has led to a full-time role with her employer, where she is committed to delivering community projects on behalf of Swindon Town FC Community Foundation and continuing to be a role model for her community.

A Journey of Reflection:

Reflecting on Grace's journey, her tutor, Duncan Donnelly said, "Grace has been a model student. She was able to partner her proactive approach to learning with a passion to have an impact on her community and employer. That is a valuable combination and without doubt, contributed to her success. Grace also received outstanding support from her employer which is a vital element of any apprenticeship. Although getting 4 distinctions is rare for a CSHO apprentice as a tutor I am not surprised, and her success is well deserved. Her commitment to having an impact has continued through her apprenticeship exit process where she is already considering further learning pathways and impacting her community in areas such as creating physical activity and sport opportunities for the disability community. The partnership between the apprentice, employer, training provider, and EPAO sometimes gets overlooked, but Grace’s success is a perfect example of how apprenticeships work."

Amid accolades, Grace's manager extends heartfelt congratulations, recognising her amazing work. "Grace herself, though still somewhat surprised, expresses her delight at achieving four distinctions. She credits the unwavering support from her employer and tutor, emphasising the pivotal role they played in boosting her confidence during the nerve-wracking EPA process. Looking ahead, Grace remains committed to impacting her community further, exploring additional learning pathways and championing physical activity and sports opportunities for the disability community."

The EPA assessor, impressed by Grace's innovation and forward-thinking, acknowledges her strong work ethic and attention to detail. The EPAO joins in the celebration, expressing admiration for Grace's exceptional results, a rare achievement in the L3 CSHO standard. In her own words, Grace adds, "If I am honest, I am still a little shocked but delighted to have received 4 distinctions. Maintaining good standards and completing my apprenticeship work was never an issue, and the support that I received from my employer and tutor was a huge help. My EPA was a different matter and did cause me some nerves because you are out there front and centre showcasing what you have learned during your apprenticeship. My tutor and EPAO, however, gave me the confidence and platform to demonstrate my learning and achieve a fantastic result. Many thanks."
