Workshop description
This essential workshop has been designed by Swim England specifically for their members to provide information on Safeguarding issues in Aquatics and Swim England’s safeguarding processes and procedures contained within WavePower. The workshop is delivered online via virtual classroom by licenced Swim England facilitators who have extensive knowledge and experience in safeguarding and aquatics.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop must be completed by Swim England members who are working regularly with children, such as coaches and swimming teachers, as well as those in key roles such as team managers and welfare officers.

What is the value of this workshop?
The Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics workshop is regulated by Swim England Qualifications and is an essential part of ensuring Swim England’s members have appropriate training and awareness of safeguarding. It provides important information regarding Swim England’s safeguarding policies and procedures, helping to ensure everyone involved in aquatic activities is safe. This workshop is also endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport & Physical Activity (CIMSPA), and therefore meets key industry quality standards. |
Learner eligibility
Learners must be:

A minimum of 16 years old on the date of the workshop

A member of Swim England

Able to communicate effectively in English.
Learners will need to:

Have access to a laptop or tablet. A smartphone device is accepted but functionality can be limited. The device must have access to a microphone as the sessions will be interactive.

Have good WIFI access

Have access to an environment with limited distractions which is conducive to learning

Be able to log into the workshop 10 minutes ahead of the designated start time.

Assessment
Informal ongoing assessment will take place throughout the workshop. Certification will be issued after attendance and is valid for three years.
Format/duration
This workshop is delivered via virtual classroom, or face-to-face workshop, and lasts for 3 hours.
Cost
This workshop costs £27 per learner.
Organise a workshop
Discounts are available for clubs, counties and regions who have 10-12 learners and would like to organise a workshop for a date and time to suit those learners. To request a workshop, please let us know using our workshop request form.
Progression Opportunities
Learners who are interested in taking more of a leading role and more responsibility for safeguarding may progress to become Welfare Officers and complete Time to Listen training.
