Our Management and Leadership Apprenticeships are designed to equip aspiring and current leaders with the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours to excel in their roles. Whether you are taking your first steps into management or looking to enhance your strategic leadership capabilities, our apprenticeships provide a structured pathway to professional growth.

Through a combination of practical, work-based learning and expert-led training, apprentices develop key competencies in areas such as team management, operational planning, financial control, and strategic decision-making. Sport Structures offers two comprehensive apprenticeship programmes designed to develop effective leaders and managers within organisations:

Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship


This programme is tailored for emerging leaders and managers, focusing on the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to manage teams and projects effectively. Over approximately 17 months (15 months of training followed by a 2-month End Point Assessment), apprentices will engage in training that encompasses:

  • Managing People: Techniques to support, develop, and manage team performance.
  • Developing Relationships: Strategies for building and maintaining positive internal and external relationships.
  • Operational Management: Understanding organisational strategies and how to implement them.
  • Project Management: Planning, executing, and overseeing projects to achieve specific objectives.
  • Finance: Basic financial principles to manage budgets and resources effectively.

Training is delivered by qualified tutors through a blend of workplace visits and remote sessions, supplemented by support resources and optional e-learning modules. For those needing it, assistance in achieving Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths is also provided. This apprenticeship is available to both new and existing employees, offering a cost-effective solution to address skills gaps within organisations.

Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship


Aimed at current leaders and senior managers, this apprenticeship equips individuals with advanced tools to manage teams and projects aligned with organisational strategies. Spanning approximately 22 months (18 months of training and a 4-month End Point Assessment), the programme covers:

  • Strategic Planning: Developing and contributing to strategic plans that drive business performance.
  • Business Plan Development: Creating and implementing business plans integral to organisational success.
  • Advanced Project Management: Utilising project management methodologies to oversee complex projects.
  • Financial Management: In-depth understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Leading and Managing People: Advanced techniques in leadership, motivation, and performance management.

The delivery combines workplace-based learning with remote sessions, facilitated by experienced tutors. Apprentices have access to a range of support resources and optional e-learning modules. Similar to the Level 3 programme, support for achieving necessary English and Maths qualifications is available if required. This apprenticeship is designed to develop proactive, skilled, and motivated leaders, enhancing organisational performance and efficiency.
