Boccia Leaders Award - Course Organisers
The Boccia Leaders Award provides learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge required to introduce and deliver boccia within the community. Learners will gain an understanding of both officiating and coaching boccia, including an overview of the rules of Boccia, adapting and designing boccia activities, leadership, plus disability awareness and classification.
This is an introductory level course and is therefore suitable for individuals with little or no prior knowledge of boccia. It is also ideal for those volunteering at boccia clubs who are looking to refresh and confirm their knowledge. The course is suitable for school students, teachers, community workers, leaders and players.
Boccia is an inclusive, tactical and exciting sport which can be adapted to suit any audience or community setting. Learners will gain leadership skills and knowledge of how to adapt activities to make them inclusive.
If you do not have a group of learners, please see courses that are currently available to book.
The cost of the course is £25 per learner for a minimum of 14 learners and a maximum of 18. This includes tutor travel expenses up to a 55 mile round trip. Any additional mileage fees will be payable by the course organiser at a rate of 45p/mile.
If you are unable to meet the minimum number of learners, we recommend speaking to local organisations to see if they have anyone who would like to join your course.
It is also possible to run the course with fewer than 14 learners, however, course organisers will still be charged for 14 places to ensure the costs of the course can be covered.
Alternatively, we also run courses that are bookable by individual learners
Learners must be at least 12 years old (learners under the age of 18 must have a responsible adult present for the duration of the course).
Learners should be able to communicate effectively in English.
The course contains no formal assessment. However, informal assessment takes place during the course to create a supportive environment and ensure learners have understood all elements of the course. Learners will receive an e-certificate to confirm their attendance on completion of the course.
