Course description
The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful delegates to be able to support learning in physical education, school sport and physical activity (PESSPA) through planning, leading and reviewing activities that contribute to a PESSPA programme.
The qualification covers the following units:
- Factors impacting the delivery of PESSPA
- Principles of Teaching in PESSPA
- Principles of Safe Practice in PESSPA
- Promoting Lifelong Health and Well-being
- Principles of Inclusion in PESSPA
- Plan, Prepare, lead and review PESSPA activities

This qualification is designed for individuals that are involved in supporting schools in their delivery of PESSPA

Learner eligibility
Learners must:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing).
Assessment
Learners must:
- Complete practical observation
- be questioned on their underpinning knowledge
- Complete plans and evaluations during the course
As part of this qualification, learners are required to undertake workplace observational assessments (in a school environment). If assessors are required to make more than a 50 mile round trip, the learner will be asked to pay for the additional mileage ahead of agreeing to proceed with the assessments.
Format/Duration
The course has a flexible delivery model and we can offer the qualification in face to face, blended or virtual formats.
The most common method is virtual delivery which involves online virtual classrooms with a course tutor. There are a minimum of six virtual classroom sessions to attend, lasting two hours each. Dates, if available, can be found below.
To access online material, learners must have access to a laptop or tablet with a microphone. A smartphone device is accepted but functionality can be limited. Please also ensure you have good WIFI access. If you have any additional learning needs, please let us know when registering for the course so we can support you.
