Developing People in Sport

Why?

Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (NCCSF) approached Sport Structures to collaborate on coach education courses. They desired to provide high-quality training to its growing number of coaches but lacked the administrative infrastructure to become a recognised awarding body.

How did it all begin?

Recognising NCCSF's needs we established a strategic partnership focused on:

  • Needs Assessment: Conduct a thorough analysis of the NCCSF's coaching workforce to identify specific training requirements and gaps.
  • Programme Development: Leveraging our existing learning programmes and delivery model to create a tailored coach education curriculum that aligns with the NCCSF's philosophy and goals.
  • Tutor Training: Equipping suitably qualified tutors with the skills to deliver effective and engaging coaching courses.
  • Administrative Support: Providing comprehensive administrative support, including registration, quality assurance, and certification processes.

How have we supported them?

Throughout the partnership, we have provided ongoing support to the NCCSF by:

  • Regular Communication: Maintaining open and frequent communication to understand their evolving needs and adjust our approach accordingly.
  • Flexible Delivery: Offering various delivery options, such as online courses or blended learning formats, to accommodate different learning styles and schedules.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conducting regular evaluations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary adjustments to enhance the quality of the coaching education programme aligned to Norwich City Community Sports Foundation's needs.
What has been the impact?

The partnership has had a significant impact on the NCCSF and its coaches:

  • Increased Coaching Capacity: Over 100 coaches have successfully completed Level 2 in Multi-skills, enhancing their coaching capabilities and contributing to the NCCSF's overall capacity.
  • Improved Coaching Quality: The new curriculum and tutor training have fostered a more consistent and effective approach to coaching, ensuring that coaches are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
  • Enhanced Administrative Efficiency: By handling administrative tasks, we have freed up the NCCSF's resources to focus on delivering coaching services and focusing on their community.
  • Expanded Reach: The partnership has enabled us to deliver coach education courses to the local community through colleges and schools, increasing access to training opportunities.
"We really pride ourselves on internal progression and consider the levels within our organisation, and look a the courses that are appropriate to support our staff on their career journeys."
